Triaxial Analog Modeling Device technical platform (DiMiTri)
Scientific Manager : Olivier Deck

Summary

The Dimitri Technical Platform – Triaxial Analog Modeling Device
The Triaxial Analog Modeling Device technical platform or DiMiTri is designed to produce Mechanical tests on scale models of underground structures (tunnels, wells, galleries, etc.).
The production of scale models requires to respect the laws of similarities and to use rock-like materials.

Technical expertises

What are the expertises of the DimiTri technical platform?
♦ Large True Triaxial Press
♦ Physical Modeling in Geosciences
♦ Mechanical behavior of discontinuities
♦ Physical modelling of underground tunnel excavation
♦ Experimental rock mechanics
♦ Integration of sensors into materials
♦ Physical modelling of land subsidence
See all the expertises of Georessources in THMC experimentation (thermal, hydrological, mechanical and chemical).

Equipments and fundings
Dimitri is designed to impose a Triaxial stress field on a volume of material of approximately 2 m3 in which excavations can be dug.
Dimitri is composed:
♦ three movable faces that allow constraint or uniform displacement (maximum 1.5 MPa and/or 10 cm),
♦ and three fixed faces, 2 of which have openings for Perform excavations.
This device is supplemented by the acquisition of a miniature excavator. that makes it possible to dig underground structures inside Dimitri.

The triaxial analog modeling device technical platform (Dimitri) is co-financed by the European Union as part of the FEDER-FSE Lorraine and Vosges Massif operational program (2014-2020).
Funding : €385,000 including CPER (State, FEDER Region) 79% – Laboratory own resources 21%.
