ANR – FraMatEx project
Explanations of the ANR project FraMatEx
The growing demand for low-enthalpy geothermal energy from fractured aquifers highlights the need to deepen our understanding of the complex flow and transport mechanisms that govern these systems. Accurate characterization of heat exchange between the matrix and fractures remains a significant challenge due to the nonlinear interaction between advection, diffusion, dispersion, and convection.
The FraMatEx project aims to fill this gap by developing a comprehensive methodology that integrates controlled experimental research using spectral induced polarization (an active electrical geophysical technique) and advanced numerical modeling approaches based on physics-informed neural networks.
