ANR – HYSTOREN Project
Explanations of the ANR Hystoren project
Hydrogen underground storage is a promising technology to conserve excess electricity from intermittent renewable energy sources. The objective of Hystoren Project is to study the entire storage system and its environment with a focus on environmental impact and site security.
Such an approach will be carried out in a unique natural pilot site used as a model for the H2 storage environment. This involves underground cavities in Gironde that provide access to an aquifer and its vadose zone, in order to experimentally and numerically model the flows and transformations of H2 from storage to the surface.
