REISOL Chair: Reinvesting in the subsurface for the energy transition

The REISOL Chair (Reinvesting in the Subsoil for Energy Transition) is a partnership-based chair that runs a research and training program aimed at industrial decarbonization and the development of an energy mix in the regions based on the subsoil of the eastern Paris basin.

The program is structured around five strategic objectives for energy transition:
1 – Improve detailed knowledge of the subsurface: map and characterize geological reservoirs for energy and storage.
2 – Assess the potential of primary energy resources (deep geothermal energy, natural hydrogen) and associated valuable products (helium, hydrothermal lithium).
3 – Assessing heat, hydrogen, and CO₂ storage capacities.
4 – Engaging stakeholders: co-developing regional projects, providing a decision-making tool to meet local needs.
5 – Developing continuing and initial training: integrating these new challenges.
