Postdoctoral Position – Development of Joint Inversion Tools for Geophysical Data Applied to Natural Hydrogen Exploration
Date of the start of the contract : 01/06/2026
contract Duration : 24 months
Contact GeoRessources : Yves Geraud
The GeoRessources laboratory (Université de Lorraine – CNRS) is offering a postdoctoral position focused on the development of joint inversion tools for geophysical data, including electrical resistivity tomography and passive seismic methods.
The research is part of the European NEXT (Natural Hydrogen Exploration Technologies) program and the REISOL Chair, which aim to improve the characterization of geological systems hosting natural (“white”) hydrogen. The project focuses on the Permo-Carboniferous basin of Lorraine, where recent exploration has identified significant hydrogen resources.
The candidate will contribute to the acquisition, processing and joint interpretation of geophysical datasets, integrate geological constraints into inversion workflows, and develop dedicated numerical tools. The results will support the construction of 3D geological models for natural hydrogen exploration and contribute to scientific dissemination through reports, presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
The work will be carried out at the GeoRessources laboratory in Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy, in collaboration with academic researchers and industrial partners involved in the NEXT program.
