Postdoctoral Position in Geochemistry and Modelling – Natural Hydrogen Renewability (REGALOR II Project)

Deadline of application : 30/04/2026
Date of commencement of the contract : Spring 2026
Contact GeoRessources : Raymond Michels, Mathieu Lazerges and Philip Donato

The GeoRessources laboratory (University of Lorraine – CNRS) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in geosciences or chemical engineering as part of the REGALOR II project, which focuses on the renewability of natural hydrogen in the Lorraine Carboniferous Basin.

The project aims to understand the mechanisms controlling the renewal and optimization of natural hydrogen production in the subsurface. The research will combine laboratory experiments, chemical modelling, and numerical approaches to investigate fluid–rock interactions, hydrogen fluxes, and the geological conditions that may stimulate hydrogen production.

The postdoctoral researcher will also work on the societal acceptability of technologies aimed at enhancing natural hydrogen production, in collaboration with researchers in the social sciences.
