PEPR Subsurface Project – new chemistry for tungsten extraction

Explanations of the PEPR Subsurface Project – new chemistry for tungsten extraction

The national PEPR subsurface project—new chemistry for tungsten extraction—aims to deepen knowledge of the French subsurface to support the energy transition and provide sustainable mineral resources.

As part of the PEPR, this project aims to develop a solvent extraction process for tungsten, a metal that is critical for energy and digital technologies. This project will utilize new extracting agents and integrate this liquid-liquid extraction operation into a more comprehensive hydrometallurgical process to achieve economic and technological efficiency.
